Easter 2025

This spring I am inspired by my need to train for my September pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Using an old 1960’s Ordnance Survey map, there’s no mobile signal so I know I will get lost...but I will return with my friend though we both share a mutual ‘disorientation’ where directions are limited... so we fear the reality.  But she is a forthright leader that I follow, and we will have fun on our training walks put on our walking shoes properly ready for the autumn expedition.

Easter at home

As spring unfolds, and the shoots come up from the spring bulbs, some planting now is a priority, especially with the current weather we are experiencing. Time to keep the curtains open and engage with dawn.

Now we will have to face the herbaceous border. the joys of spring bring evolution from the darker to the brighter days shading to the more subtle tones of blooms, softer yet vibrant — reflecting the garden of hellebores, cornflowers, delphiniums, with wisteria and honeysuckle floating through the rose petals. And some of us are lucky enough to have the pale, soft yellow of the primroses that can last for the rest of the summer.

The joys of the Easter weekend are those extra days off – for the naughty ones starting on Monday Thursday that then spills through to the following Tuesday. We are lucky this year — it appears we can slip on the kilim slippers and go out and have a morning coffee on the terrace or an alfresco stroll in the city close to home .

For those gathering in London, a trip to Jacques Flower Shop on Sloane Street provides a floral flourish —  the perfect time to buy flowers for the home or hostess, where a handheld will be a perfect Easter present that will keep the arrays of chocolate at bay and be a feast for the eye or the table.

And for young and old alike what could be more fun than a wander along Sloane Street (visiting the shop) to marvel at the ‘chicest’ eggs in The Big Egg Hunt 2025 - 20 unique giant eggs designed by artists, as part of a city engagement with the spring season - supporting The Elephant Family charity in partnership with Clarence Court Eggs.  It's time to enjoy the town and its treasures.

 Fun and Games

At Easter rain or shine families and friends come together and to fill the gaps between meals and television there are many games we can play and make the most of the weekend break, coming together and share maybe at this point some indulgences from ‘The Chocolate Detective’, created by my friend Chantal Coady. An added attraction  - although possibly 85% dark chocolate for the likes of me not wanting to add to the expanding waistline...

A perfect weekend gift as it's a long weekend might be one of our games or one of our other products such as photo frames and visitors' books which always very much appreciated - especially if you have them monogrammed or blocked or personalised as the thought that counts for a lot.

We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break. However, no sooner will Easter be over than we will be approaching the May bank holiday weekend which will give another opportunity to escape the UK and look for sunnier climes - a change is as good as rest! Or just enjoy being at home with time with space to relax.
